Troika, the martial art
Troika is a blend of the unified physics found in Judo, Krav Maga, Xing Yi, Bagua, Aiki, and Systema, among other arts. Arthur Sennott formed Troika as a three-fold art, emphasizing that the physical, energetic, and psychic components were all equally important. Troika is a full-contact art that does not employ padding or shielding while working: the authentic body-to-body contact is crucial to understand the authentic power generated by the body and to build confidence in its students. Based on physics, metaphysics, and quantum physics, Arthur presented practical applications for external and internal work, emphasizing utilizing the advantages presented by an opponent versus memorized techniques.
Troika does not have a belt system of progression. Students are not competing with each other for rank or prestige but are encouraged to compete only with themselves and their own limiting beliefs or understanding as they gain experience. In this way, this martial art, which can be brutal and devastating, is mindfully practiced with the cooperation of students who implicitly trust their fellow students.
